Job Description

RSR Police is a market leading recruitment business dedicated to supplying experienced practitioners on a temporary, contractual or permanent basis to the Law Enforcement, Cyber Security, Offender Management and Regulatory Services talent markets.RSR Police are currently recruiting on behalf of our Staffordshire based client for an Infrastructure Engineer.This is a full time, permanent role offers a salary of £39.183 - £45,873.Main Duties:

  • Provide specialist technical skills and knowledge to support the availability and performance of the forces core network infrastructure application delivery platforms, including performance of data centres, data storage services, servers and back-ups
  • Apply best practice approaches to network infrastructure management, using technologies such as Cisco ISE and SDWAN to ensure that performance is monitored and governed effectively.
  • Provide specialist technical knowledge that facilitate the relevant incident, configuration, availability, capacity, continuity and release management in line with agreed procedures.
  • Provide and disseminate specialist/technical advice on issues relating to the service, interpreting or assessing force needs and exercising judgment to make decisions when solutions are not obvious.
  • Assist the IT Partner (Networks & Devices) in formulating strategic direction for the team.
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex technical issues arising through the helpdesk, facilitating timely resolution.
  • Monitor and manage service levels and performance standards for the team.
  • Have regular contact with various key stakeholders.
  • Provide reports and business cases in support of making recommendations for improvements or amendments to systems within the team.
  • Plan and organise individual or team activity to meet the demands on the infrastructure workload.
  • Provide specialist technical assistance to projects which may often be complex in nature, ensuring solutions meet the required quality levels and that specialist information and/or advice is offered to assist senior colleagues in making appropriate decisions.
  • Interpret statistical data and advise management of trends.
  • Revise or develop procedures and policies, and contribute to their successful implementation in order to deliver appropriate benefits and ensure legislative or security requirements are met.
Essential Requirements:
  • Post graduate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Cisco CCNP certified
  • At least 3 years working in a 3rd line network engineer role
  • Juniper Junos experience
  • Knowledge of Cisco ISE
  • Aruba experience is desirable
  • Experience in the use of F5 load balancers is desirable
  • Experience of handling proxy settings
