Job Description

Chemistry Laboratory AnalystLocation - StaffordshireSector - ChemistrySalary - £21,000 - £23,000Full time, permanent roleOur client is a leading contract testing and analysis company based in Staffordshire, who are offering a laboratory-based opportunity for a hard-working, professional individual to join their environmental chemistry team. This position is a great opportunityfor someone to develop their skills in the laboratory. The role is well suited to individuals with experience working in analytical chemistry, as well as graduates with a chemistry-based BSc and relevant industry experience using analytical techniques.The RoleThis is a position suitable for individuals with analytical chemistry laboratory experience, or graduates with a chemistry degree at Bachelors level with relevant experience. As an Analyst, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Independently performing analytical duties to the required productivity/quality specifications in a high-throughput environment, iterating your process to improve efficiency,
  • Conforming to the Laboratory Quality system, specifically UKAS and MCERTS requirements,
  • Maintaining good laboratory practice at all times, following methods, SOPs, and regulations, maintaining equipment and safe working procedures,
  • Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements of the department and wider business, ensuring PPE and safety equipment are used correctly and at all times, accidents and incidents are minimised, and non-conformity are promptly reported.
Skills and Experience NeededAn ideal candidate will have:
  • Laboratory experience in analytical chemistry, using equipment such as GC, GCMS, HPLC, LCMS, and/or ICP-MS,
  • Graduates with a chemistry-based BSc who have undertaken notable hands-on work with the mentioned techniques will also be considered
  • Experience working in a high pressure, production-driven environment,
  • Problem solving abilities, and the ability to make sound decisions independently,
  • Good verbal and written communication skills,
  • A desire to undertake routine, laboratory work.
The PackageOur client is offering this opportunity on a full-time, permanent basis. The salary offered is between £21,000 - £23,000, depending on skills and experience, with a competitive benefits package.
