Job Description

Asset Engineering Manager E&ISalary: £43.8k - £52.2k (dependent on skills and experience)Location: St Mary Cray (or South)Reference - REQ691To support the Head of Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I), in ensuring that key E&I Asset systems are managed appropriately, processes operate effectively, efficiently and safely. This involve working closely with colleagues across several number of functions/departments within the business.What does an Asset Engineering Manager E&I do

  • Manage our E&I Asset portfolio in line with ISO 55001 principles across 270 sites in the South of England, covering a range of assets from Eectrical, Instrumentation, Telemetry, Metering, Gas Quality, Software, Fire & Gas and Security systems in potentially hazardous atmospheres.
  • Ensuring that all E&I GD1 projects are carried out to programme to enable delivery of key OFGEM outputs and within budget.
  • Ensure suitable compliance levels are applied for new and existing E & I equipment
  • Ensuring our E&I maintenance programme and projects are carried out safely and in accordance with SGN policy and procedures.
  • Ensure offtake high pressure metering and gas quality systems comply with relevant regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure systems and plans are in place to deliver E&I GD2 business plan
  • Ensure our biomethane E&I systems are managed, maintained and commissioned to meet regulatory and legal compliance.
  • Ensure appropriate audits and inspections are undertaken
  • When appropriate undertake fault analysis and investigations to determine root cause.

  • Communicative and Inter-personal skills, including the ability to converse with external organisations such as HSE, OFGEM, IGEM, consultants, contractors and members of the public.
  • You will be expected to be flexible and to work variable hours participating in the 24-hour standby rota.
  • A full and valid driving licence is essential.
  • Knowledge and experience of E&I processes in the gas industry is essential as well as, Telemetry, Fire & Gas detection, high pressure flow metering and Gas Quality systems.
  • A knowledge of the following legislation and standards is also required, Electricity @ Work regulations, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, ATEX/DSEAR, Gas Safety Management Regulations (GSMR), Gas Calculation of Thermal Energy Regulations, Electrical equipment in hazardous areas, COMAH and Functional Safety.
  • Candidates must be performance oriented and self-motivated individual, able to control budgets, people, resources and tasks. They must be able to balance conflicting priorities and challenging timescales. Must be able to work with people at all levels
