We’re looking for a Senior Web Developer to lead a small team, someone who has strong JavaScript skills for an ex- citing career opportunity leading our Customer Portal Development Team based at our HQ in West Berkshire.Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesLine management of a small team of developersPrioritisation and sequencing of development work to blend technical debt reduction with feature developmentDesigning and implementing highly available and secure Web solutions primarily using JavaScriptActive participation in application design and data flows.Delivery of software to specification and on-scheduleTesting features to ensure they are fit for purpose including across multiple browsers and environmentsDevelopment and testing of Application Program Interfaces (APIs)Working with internal stakeholders to capture and negotiate their requirementsDefine the scope of work and estimate development effortRefactoring and optimising existing codeReviewing the work of your team (via Code Reviews, Demos)Who do we look forWere looking for someone with working experience in both front end and back end web development, ideally spanning multiple languages and technologies.We also look for people with the right cultural fit. We work with associates from all across our business so you will have a good level of interpersonal skills.Youll have an idea of how to solve a problem and be confident presenting your point of view to team members and stakeholders alike and be able to reach a consensus.Here are some of the skills we are looking for:Essential:Demonstrable experience in Web development, preferably using industry-standard languages and technologies (such as JavaScript and PHP).Consideration of key operational concerns (e.g. scalability, availability, security)Experience working with various design patterns (e.g. MVC, MVVM, Flux)Working knowledge of Modern Web Libraries and Frameworks (e.g. ExtJS, React, Redux)Effective team collaboration, speaking up, challenging ideas, agreeing and committing.Ability to collaborate with stakeholders with a less technical backgroundDesirable:Working knowledge of current operating systems (e.g. UNIX, LINUX, MS Windows).A good understanding of GIT version control.An appreciation of Scrum-based agile development methods and processes.Experience with collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, etc.Experience with modern database technologies such as Oracle and SQL Server.Software Engineering or Computer Science Degree (or equivalent)Mayflower is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy,
