Job Description

Title: Quotation Specialist / Trainee Design EngineerReports to: Senior Designers / Operations DirectorSummary: On offer is a varied and unique role with the opportunity for career progression and the chance to be part of the growth of an ambitious growing business with a great reputation for internal training and culture.You will start life as a Quotation Specialist. A Quotation Specialist prepares accurate quotes by building estimates after gathering information such as material costs, understanding the manufacturing processes and the time taken to complete each manufacturingtask.To be successful in the role you will need strong numerical skills and an analytical mindset. You will be involved in internal department and customer discussions on a regular basis which have a direct impact on the overall performance of the business.Your progression will be closely monitored with regular coaching and mentoring advice given on how to move to the next level.Its anticipated that you will then evolve using your knowledge in this role into a Design position within the group. Depending on the successful candidate its anticipated it will take approximately 12-18 months to make the move into the design department.A proven track record of career planning and progression can be displayed in this position as others can testify.Responsibilities: Prepare quotations consistent with pricing guidelines in a timely fashion and maintain the quotations database Understand the competition, market conditions internal and external bottlenecks/restrictions plus individual customer requirements to drive new and maintain repeat business opportunities. Research any possibilities for lower material costs on quotations

  • Provide professional customer service and communication with internal and external customers (including sales managers, production control, and product teams.
Qualifications: To perform the job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential key function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or abilities required.Basic Requirements:
  • Utilize various aspects of Microsoft Office such as Excel, Word, and Autocad.

  • Dynamic, initiative, enthusiastic, positive attitude, adaptable, and open-minded
  • Strong English skills in both written and verbal communication
Competencies:To perform the job successfully the individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Planning/Organization - Prioritizes and plans work activities in line to delivery schedules provided by the Production Manager
  • Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures, reports potentially unsafe activities or conditions immediately.
  • Initiative - Seeks additional responsibilities; asks for and offers help when needed.
  • Innovation - Generates suggestions for improvements while developing innovative approaches and ideas.
