Job Description

Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join the Visitor Experience team as a Programming and Partnerships Officer at The Workhouse and Infirmary. Were looking for a proactive, creative colleague to plan and co-create an exciting year-round programme of visitorengagement and participation opportunities.This is a permanent, annualised contract working 1560 hours over the year, the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year. The role requires a level of flexibility with most of thehours being worked during our open season (February to the end of October) and the remaining during the closed season. This posts working pattern will include both Friday and Saturday on a weekly basis.Please include a covering letter as part of your application. What its like to work here The Workhouse and Infirmary is a unique National Trust property focusing on the social history of the poor, giving a voice to their stories and experiences. It is a complex place that challenges us to reconsider how we care for all in our communities today.With so many connections to important contemporary questions surrounding welfare and inequality it is an exciting time to be joining the team.We are a relatively small property, with a friendly atmosphere, run by a small, dedicated staff team and wider volunteer support. Youll be line managed by the Senior Visitor Experience Officer and will work closely with the Welcome Manager to create anengaging visitor experience. What youll be doing Youll help us put audiences at the heart of our programming through building on our existing programming offer. Youll be working to design and deliver seasonal programming activities for the everyday visit, but also developing new and exciting event highlights- creating a buzz and encouraging repeat visits.Youll be passionate about creating experiences that welcome everyone and widen our audience, ensuring that diversity and accessibility are a strategic priority.This is a key operational role and you will be part of the duty management team. Youll need to have a flexible approach and be willing to "muck in" from time to time, to welcome visitors, do a spot of weeding and generally support the smooth running ofthe site. Who were looking for To deliver this role successfully, youll need:

  • Experience of delivering activities and public engagement within the arts, culture, heritage, natural environment, sports or visitor attraction sector.
  • Experience of building partnership relationships and working in collaboration with community or commercial partners.
  • Experience of working with and supervising volunteers.
  • Strong organisational skills including setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Understanding of an audience-led approach and the ability to evaluate impact and use feedback to further develop an offer or event.
  • To be able to demonstrate excellent team working skills with an adaptable and hands-on approach.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
