More than 100,000 general and specialist nurses, doctors, midwives, administrative and other healthcare professionals have registered to work flexibly through the bank.Looking for flexible work We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motived Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the NHSP Bank, for South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.About the teams: For more information around trust community mental health services please click here.The Role:- Be employed by the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust [SLaM]- Work closely with Older Adults and Working Age Liaison consultant psychiatrists, mental health liaison team practitioners, geriatricians, acute physicians and the frailty team at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ [GSTT] Hospitals- Provide biopsychosocial assessment, risk and clinical management and collaborative, parallel working with medical colleagues for patients suffering psychiatric symptoms whilst under the in- Patient care of GSTT- Work to expedite safe discharge, prevent inappropriate readmission, facilitate community support and contingencies and expedite appropriate, timely discharge from GSTT wards- Hold a small caseload; providing structured intervention for patients seen - provide advice on the management of patients subject to the Mental Health and Mental Capacity Acts- Work with the older adult’s home treatment teams, older adult’s specialist care home intervention teams, relevant acute trusts community services, CMHTs, primary care, social services, and third sector agencies, etc.- Work alongside a small mental health older adult multidisciplinary team [MDT] whilst undertaking joint and autonomous assessments- Provide formal and structured support, teaching, supervision to student nurses on placement with the PLOA- As necessary, act up for the PLOA Team Leader in their absence.Skills/ResponsibilitiesTo apply for this post, the you will have the following:

  • Have a minimum of 6 months paid UK experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist within the last 2 years.
  • Comply with NMC Professional Registration and keep up to date with current nursing practices.
  • Knowledge and demonstration of the use of evidence-based care.
  • Demonstrate strong, sound decision making, risk assessment and problem-solving skills
  • Independently triage and prioritise their workload
  • Demonstrate ability to assess and manage those in a mental health crisis, manage conflict, work in a high-pressure environment and communicate effectively across a range of services and professionals.
  • Be proficient in the delivery of care to patients
  • Ensure safe administration of drugs in accordance with NMC and CHS policies
  • Ensure accurate records are kept in accordance with CHS policy and NMC guidelines
  • Carry out nursing procedures and techniques in accordance with agreed policies and standards
