Job Description

New Startis a family-run, not-for-profit organisation, providing residential and supported accommodation services for vulnerable adults, families, children, and young people. We deliver a diverse range of homelessness projects and temporary housing solutions,helping some of the most complex and disadvantaged groups across Merseyside. The services we provide aim to enhance lives by offering good quality homes and structured support; encouraging clients to achieve independence and engage in constructive opportunitieswhich will enable them to live a more fulfilled and enriched existence.Waking Night Support Coach – Complex NeedsHave you had experience supporting people with Complex Needs Do you hold the necessary people skills to confidently support people in a 24/7 supported accommodation through to the following morning If so, then we have a fantastic vacancy opportunity fora Waking Night Support Coach to work at our Complex Needs Supported Accommodation in Southport.Leyland House Complex Needs Project forms part of Sefton Support Housing Groups offer in delivering the boroughs homeless strategy. Leyland House is our Complex Project in Southport, offering 5 on-suite bedrooms with communalliving. The project is staffed 24/7 by Support Coaches and Waking Night Workers to allow our residents to feel safe in their environment. You will be part of a team who delivers a strengths-based service, allowing each person who accesses the project to thriveand develop, gain greater independence, and succeed to a more permanent housing solution.The project also delivers 12 Crash Beds in our Emergency Night Shelter based at Leyland Road Night Shelter; thisprovides emergency accommodation for one night at a time, for males in Sefton. This is a vital service for Sefton as it allows people who are rough sleeping a warm and safe space with a hot meal and shower for the night, through to the next morningwhere they are then assessed by Sefton Housing Option.The successful candidate’s role will focus upon supporting vulnerable males who live at Accommodation or are accessing the Night Shelter. Each person we support is unique, so we encourage our teams to get creative, promoting each individual’s independence,choice and dignity whilst still having plenty of fun along the way. The role does require completion of Health and Safety Checks along with Incident Management throughout the night to ensure the safety of the building, residents, and staff.What we have to offer

What we’re looking for in our ideal Waking Night Support Coach:
  • Previous experience in a similar post of supporting individuals who face challenges around mental health, substance abuse or offending.
  • A person who genuinely cares and wants to make a difference by supporting people to turn their lives around.
  • A good understanding of health and safety and building management.
  • Experience of homelessness and housing challenges.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Housing/Health and Social Care, or be working towards this qualification or be prepared to undertake if successful in the role.
  • Ability to accurately record information e.g., case notes, support plans and risk assessments.
  • Experience of Mainstay, or similar Capita systems.
