You will also support current products with technical design changes and modifications. You will be based at the Southport site, but work cross functionally with the Engineering team across the Division.Responsibilities:- Create innovative solutions to complex design issues as part of the product definition and design cycle.- In-depth knowledge and experience of PCB design, layout and manufacture.- Conduct product safety analysis to SIL 3 as required.- Develop electronic product and component designs using both analogue and digital electronic design as well as possessing an excellent knowledge of embedded software (PIC and C).- Produce general LED PCB layouts and schematics.- Work in collaboration with engineers across the application development and engineering teams (mechanical and electronics engineers) to produce cost-effective, reliable design solutions.- Work within the New Product Development (NPD) gated process to successfully deliver products to the right specification and timeframes ensuring complete customer satisfaction.- Undertaking modifications to existing products in line with customer requests through the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process.- To prepare cost and schedule estimates giving appropriate consideration to technical risks.- Perform qualification testing of products and validation and produce test equipment specifications.- Undertake tasks in accordance with the engineering key performance indicators (quality, cost and delivery).- Create, update and control technical drawings and documentation.- Strong design review and document checking abilities.- Demonstrate a full understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Reliability (PFMEA, RAMS, Gauge R&R) processes.- Design concepts and undertake preparatory work for new product development.- Attend customer meetings (internally and externally) as required.- Liaise with procurement and external suppliers for tooling, component and sub-assembly requirements.Essential criteria:- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Electronics Engineering.- Expertise in both analogue and digital electronic design as well as possessing an excellent knowledge of embedded software (PIC and C).- Working knowledge of Engineering design systems (Autocad / Cadstar / eCadstar) and design rules.- Experience in product design lifecycle – from concept to introduction into manufacturing (ideally in a safety critical industry).- Experience in component obsolescence management.- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.- Able to liaise with customers to understand technical requirements.- Passion for producing innovative design solutions.Desirable criteria:- Experience / knowledge of rail industry standards, SMD LED technology / optical design.- Product safety knowledge EN 50128, EN 50129.- Project Management Experience highly desirable.We will challenge you to be creative and contribute with new ways of working, and we will reward you with a rich working environment with an emphasis on continuous improvement and an opportunity to make your mark on our business.You may have experience of the following: Senior Electronics Engineer, Electronics Design Engineer, Electronics Engineer, Electronics Technician, QA Engineer, Electronic Engineering, PCB, Electronic Prototypes, PIC, C, C++, Design Engineer, Electronic Design, Test Engineer, Hardware Engineer, Electronic Development, etc.Ref: 95162
