Job Description

Do you have an interest in hospitality and catering Become a fully qualified Steward in the Royal Air Force!All entrants will be enrolled on theCabin Crew Apprenticeship diplomaLevel3.This qualification is recognised by all trailblazers -British Airways, British Airways City Flyer, Flybe, EasyJet, Virgin, Eastern Airways, BMI Regional & Titan Airways. The apprenticeship is directly transferable to the industry after completion of service.Elements covered include -

  • Part A - Flight operations - Pre-flight, in-flight, post flight duties.
  • Part B - Organisation and commercial - Compliance and legislation, Health, safety and wellbeing, Organisation, CRM / Human factors.
Entry options for qualified or unqualified candidates with competitive training pay. In the RAF the role is known as Air & Ground Steward (AGS), where you will be a key logistical element in the running of the Service.WHAT YOU COULD BE DOING
  • Cabin Crew on the Royal Air Force A330-200 Voyager Aircraft or the Royal Air Force BAe 146 aircraft.
  • Greeting passengers as they board and exit the plane, providing special attention to passengers as required.
  • Serving meals and refreshments, checking the condition and provision of on-board emergency equipment and information for passengers, demonstrating emergency equipment and safety procedures as well as administering first aid and dealing with passenger orcrew emergencies.
  • After your first flying tour, you could also be part of our Specialist Field catering Squadron (3MCS) providing military field catering on Operations and Exercises worldwide or work alongside our industry partners in Military Messes.

ONGOING TRAINING/DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIESAs your career progresses, we will continue to train you to the highest standard and equip you with the skills you require to take on new responsibilities. After your first flying tour you are likely to be employed on the ground, for at least one tour; supporting unit food services with our industry partners or as a member of 3 Mobile Catering Sqn, Returning to Cabin Crew duties, after a ground tour will bevoluntary or to meet the need of the Service.Logistic AGS Requirements:
  • Be between 17.5 and 47 years old. (Must attest before 48th birthday).
  • Be able to pass an RAF swim test (see below) and be within the height range of 161cm to 195cm.
  • Non-British / Commonwealth Citizens applying for Logistic Profession AGS are to be naturalised as a British citizen before entry to the service and hold a UK passport.
  • Pass a Fitness test.
  • All candidates must be able to swim.
If a full-time role is not for you, there is also the option to join up as a part-time reservist in the AGS role. The RAF is one of the most inclusive forces in the world, recognising the value of a persons ability no matter their ethnicity, religious beliefs,gender identity or sexual orientation.
