Job Description

Employment Type:Full time employment contract - 38 hours per week PAYESubject to successful 12-week trial employed through our selected agency. (Talent 84)Company Overview & IndustryMy client supplies sub-contract manufacturing and specialist fabrication and engineering for the following industries.

  • Anti-corrosion industry, including onshore-offshore, ports and harbours, renewables and wind energy.
  • Food production industry
  • Satellite communications (bracketry to the marine sector)
  • Civils, fire and gas,
  • Medical treatment (chiropractic sector)
Experience within all is not a necessary, however, experience in any would be advantageous to the applicant.My Client is based within South-Tyneside and offers specialised fabrication, manufacturing and prototyping to a range of industries. We offer sub-contract manufacturing alongside our specialist fabrication department and our in-house product manufacturing.Within our specialist fabrication department, we design, fabricate and install manufacturing jigs to increase our customers current manufacturing output while reducing their overall running costs. We offer a range of services including design assistance,manufacturing assistance, onsite installation and commissioning of all components. We offer prototypingand technical fabrication for complex components, tooling, process equipment and material handling equipment.We also have a range of products we manufacture under the HQ brand in house for a range of industries and continually look for new products to bring to market.Our general operations also include industrial fabrication and maintenance, manufacturing handrails, guards, ramps, gates, working platforms and many other small/large components to assist our clients within their fabric maintenance and continuous improvementprojects.Purpose of the positionThe position is to assist in all matters relating to the operation of the fabrication and production department, reporting directly to the operations/manufacturing manager who now requires assistance to be able to grow the company further.The ability to self-manage is key to help in all areas of the production and fabrication department, daily tasks and jobs will be updated by management but should be managed directly within the role.Deliveries management - offloading of deliveries when required, stock checking and standard stock material requests, dispatch management of goods to customers and suppliers.Fabrication in both the production and specialist fabrication departments when required, ability to read and understand drawings and plan production/fabrication processes accordingly.Supervision of future staff, (training and procedures/policies provided)Assist with site installations when required, working away from home on occasions within the UK.Continual improvement contributions through installation of new machines and modernisation of current workstations when applicable, suggestions for workplace ergonomics and safety solutions.Management of daily, weekly and monthly checks on production machines.Responsibility for regular housekeeping and workshop maintenance.Responsibilities / experience and skills.Required:
  • Experience within engineering, fabrication and or manufacturing department/business.
  • Metal work and fabrication experience.
  • Ability to weld - MIG. MMA
  • Stock management experience, receiving deliveries managing minimum material levels.
  • General workshop machinery experience (band-saws, drills, grinders, hand tools etc.)
  • Good work ethic, punctuation, attendance and integrity in work quality.
  • Resilient and calm attitude in unplanned and stressful situations.
  • Computer literate
  • Strong problem-solving skills
Preferred but not required:
  • FLT licence,
  • Further Education or High National Certificate in engineering,
  • Ability to weld - TIG
  • Experience within construction and or marine/ports/harbours industry.
  • CSCS Card and site installation experience.
  • Experience working with Machining tools (Lathe, Milling, CNC Milling, Press brake)
QualificationsRequired BTEC Level 3 or higher in Engineering or Manufacturing or extensive experience within the industry.Preferred not essentialCompleted technical apprenticeship or equivalentFork Lift Truck Licence.CSCS cardExperience in estimating and pricing production or fabrication jobs.Experience working with paint spraying equipment.Salary & Benefits£22,000 - £25,000 per annum depending on experience.Benefits.Profit share 12 months after employment.Regular overtime available.Increased rates and subsidies for site work.Statutory Pension.Further education and training opportunities.
