Job Description

An industry leader is looking for a full stack Senior Network Engineer.

  • Third line support function - provide back-up to 2nd line Network Engineers and 1st line NOC Engineers
  • Lead and deliver successful projects following Agile processes
  • Development and implementation of technology and infrastructure upgrades
  • Plan and implement software and hardware upgrades, usually focusing on improvements to the network, implementation of new technologies, investigations, testing, enhancements etc.
  • Configure and maintain network automation platforms
  • Ongoing day-to-day Network maintenance
  • Hands-on complex engineering, including heavy maintenance work
  • 24x7 on call rota
  • Training Colleagues/sharing knowledge
  • Operational Improvements
  • Work with the operations manager to identify and address operational improvements, covering both process and technical opportunities
  • Engage in and contribute to retrospectives, addressing opportunities to drive incremental improvements
  • General Administration
  • Good at documentation
  • Keep Jira tasks updated and informative throughout the two week sprint cycle
  • Gain and demonstrate awareness of and working to budgets
  • Awareness of and working to budgets
    • Prerequisite Skills:
  • Minimum 4/5 years experience in network/ISP environment
  • Advanced complex problem solving skills
  • Debugging/analytical skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Eye for detail, self-starting and independent, but able to work within predefined areas of responsibility
  • Good project management skills
  • Thorough understanding and experience of Ethernet/Layer 2 switched Networks
  • Thorough understanding and experience of Juniper routers and JUNOS
  • Firewall experience
  • Thorough knowledge of IP routing protocols
  • Thorough understanding and experience of MPLS/VPLS/EVPN technologies
  • Knowledge of LINUX/UNIX system administration skills
  • Basic programming and scripting skills (Python, PHP)
  • Experience with automation/configuration management systems
  • Familiar with continuous integration helpful
  • Familiarity with git helpful
    • Salary is £50,000 to £60,000 plus a generous end of year bonus and co benefits. Required skills
