Job Description

Position:1:1 Outreach TutorLocation:Smallfield, Surrey, RH6 9QASalary:Unqualified Teachers Range Fringe 1-3 (£18,844 - £22,955)Contract:1 year Fixed TermHours:Fulltime (Term-time)The Aurora GroupThe Aurora Group is an innovative provider of education and care for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.We’re currently looking for a 1:1 Outreach Tutor, inSmallfield, Surreywhere ourAurora Redehall Schoolsupports young people aged 6 – 13 who have difficulties with communication and social interaction, typically associated with Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism, and challenging behaviour.The Role:You will be required to provide teaching and learning to individuals at their home address or other appropriate venue as part of an outreach programme. Whilst delivering high quality teaching and learning to children and young people you will be responsible for their progress, welfare and outcomes.As an Outreach Tutor your role will include managing parts of the admission and assessment procedure in relation to home visits and liaison with parents, carers and other agencies who may be working to support a potential student admission, and then report to and advise the SLT.You may be required to supervise the work of any support staff and take responsibility for implementing school policies and practice, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity.Qualifications:Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:

  • Experience of working in a special school environment and in particular with pupils with autism.
  • Be able to use a VLE to provide a blend of face-to-face and distance learning
  • Be able to keep organised and succinct records for own caseload of outreach students
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge
  • PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification (this is not essential and we welcome applications from unqualified teachers)
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording and reviewing students’ progress.
