This is a part time (31.5 hours per week) fixed term post until 31st July 2021 due to maternity cover, which may be extended further. If you are a Swansea Bay University Health Board employee this post will only be offered on a secondment basis and you will need to have gained your line managers approval for the secondment prior to going to interview.An opportunity has arisen for a receptionist/admin support to join the Orthoptic team at Singleton Hospital. This is a temporary post until 31st July 2021.We are a small, friendly, department of eight Orthoptists, an Orthoptic Technician and two receptionists. We diagnose and treat a range of eye movement disorders in both adults and children.As receptionist you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Orthoptic reception desk together with general administrative work which will include receiving and processing patients via the Patient Management System (WelshPAS) answering telephone enquiries and providing clinic information to patients and staff. You will be expected to support the Orthoptic team with typing documents, photocopying and entering patients on databases so IT skills are essential.You must possess good organisational skills and be capable of working on your own initiative.You must be able to communicate effectively with patients, relatives and staff and liaise with other departments e.g. accident and emergency, paediatrics and neurology to arrange appointments and deal with queries.Confidentiality must be exercised at all times and a tolerant and approachable manner is desirable as the majority of patients attending the Orthoptic Department are paediatric, elderly, visually impaired or have special needs.Previous experience essential and knowledge of WelshPAS preferred but training can be arranged.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.For further details / informal visits contact:Claire Shaw, Orthoptistclaire.shaw@wales.nhs.uk or /
