Job Description

Role: Purchase Ledger Clerk Contract: PermanentSalary: £26 - 28,000 Location: Shirley SolihullBenefits: 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, BUPA private medical, cash plan for dental and optical, subsidised onsite canteen, enhanced pension scheme, onsite gym and free parkingWe are working on behalf of an esteemed employer who are looking to recruit an experienced Purchase Ledger Clerk to join their finance department. This is a full-time office based role working in an outstanding office environment. The working hours are Mondayto Friday 9am until 5pm with half hour lunch.Role and responsibilities:

  • As a Purchase Ledger Clerk, you will work alongside your colleagues to provide a comprehensive accounts payable support service to customers and suppliers
  • Create new accounts into the accounting software and accurately maintain customer data
  • Dealing with incoming queries from customers and suppliers through a central inbox and action promptly such as providing copies of invoices
  • Process all incoming purchase invoices and payments as well as chasing approvers in a timely manner
  • Managing BACS payments including reviewing and posting foreign payments
  • Reconcile prepayments and ensure all invoices are posted to clear
  • Process expense batches through Concur weekly and reconcile bank statement
  • Assist with the annual audit and provide information as required
  • Adhoc supporting with Sales Ledger
  • Any other finance duties as required to support the Purchase Ledger Manager
Skills and experience required:
  • Proven work history within a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable position is essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills is essential
  • Ability to work accurately in a fast paced environment adhering to deadlines
  • Confident to take ownership of transactional processes
  • Strong knowledge of Excel essential
  • Experience using AS400 or Netsuite desirable
  • Numerate with high levels of attention to detail
  • Team player
