Job Description

A DAY IN THE LIFE What a normal day at work looks like for youDay to day, you’ll:

  • Work with supply chain to deliver value to the organisation – through smarter sourcing, rationalisation, leveraging relationships, and improving our operations to maximise customer experience.
  • Develop great relationships with key stakeholders across the business to ensure that all of our key categories of spend have clear strategic plans, with the ability to anticipate future demand.
  • Agree and implement sourcing and vendor management strategies and work with our partners in finance to budget effectively.
  • Run tender, RFP and other sourcing exercises to ensure we support the needs of the business in the most cost effective way.
  • Use performance management techniques to get the most out of key supply chain partners so they meet strategic goals.
  • Manage disputes with suppliers, using your negotiation skills to reach outcomes that suit both parties.
  • Ensure suppliers are on boarded appropriately and expenditures are properly managed and controlled.
  • Be responsible for operating discipline within our supply base – overseeing purchasing and taking ownership of managing down Cost of Sales.
  • Manage pricing changes and work with Sales on special bids.
  • Proactively identify and root cause problems.
  • Implement solutions under the guidance of the Commercial Finance Manager & Head of Commercial.
  • YOUR EXPERIENCE What you bring to the jobYour background will demonstrate:
  • Substantial experience in similar role.
  • Experience of the telecoms industry.
  • Experience of a fastpaced SME environment.
  • YOUR QUALIICATIONS About your education and qualificationsYou’ll really need to know your stuff, which means you’ll need:
  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English
  • CIPS Level 4. We’ll also accept your application if you’re studying towards this.
  • Ofcom legislation (although this isn’t essential).
  • YOUR BUSINESS SKILLS The skills and knowledge you need to make an impact on a business levelTo join us at this level, you will need:
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • The strength to champion processes and make sure everyone follows them.
  • Conflict management skills.
  • Good Excel and analytical skills.
  • The discipline to get tasks done.
  • The experience to ‘see’ the wider problem.
  • The initiative to propose new ideas which add value or reduce cost.
  • ABOUT THE ROLE T&Cs
  • Full Time: 37.5 hours per week
  • Permanent
  • Place of Work: Solihull Office with opportunity to work remotely a few days a week (Remote working during lockdown)
