Job Description

We are looking for a Head of Risk and Assurance responsible for driving a culture of risk management and awareness across the business and supporting an organisational culture where risk is commonly understood, discussed and managed.About usWe are social housing landlord and think our vision of Improving Lives Incommunities says it all!Working to provide great homes in great neighbourhoods, we manage more than 22,600 homes across Yorkshire and are proud to collaborate with our customers, communities, local and national stakeholders to achieve this.Our values are at the heart of everything we do, inspiring our thinking and guiding our plans and actions.   • Navigate risk in a regulated and fast paced environment
  • Implement our new strategic risk framework, building a robust monitoring programme and work with business areas to identify where controls are needed in order to manage risks
  • Support risk reporting to management and leadership, ensuring that assurance is provided routinely on key risks and controls
  • Produce monthly reports to illustrate key trends and where strategy and planning is needed within the business
  • Manage and facilitate internal auditors and their programme and manage our insurance arrangements
  • Lead on anti-fraud arrangements including carrying out any investigations as directed and provide advice and supervision to ensure effective management and remediation of any operational incidents
  • Scope, execute and deliver assurance reviews, highlighting deficiencies and underlying root causes
  • Report to and work closely with the Director of Governance and Assurance
RequirementsWe are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about continuous improvement and developing a high standard culture. Someone who will be passionate about building a high performing team and possess strong influencing and communication skills. Other requirements include:
  • A degree level qualification or relevant risk management, internal audit, audit qualification or equivalent
  • A commitment to embrace our culture, live by our values and help drive the business forward
  • Being commercially minded and able to contribute to the wider business strategy
  • Having a holistic understanding of the housing association operations (economic, organisational and strategic)
  • A thorough understanding of risk, control and assurance
  • Project management skills involving complex people, process and technology issues
  • The ability to think creatively when resolving problems and/or identify alternatives where established procedures may not exist
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Systems such as Excel, Powerpoint and Word
