Job Description

A large multinational organisation based in Shipley, West Yorkshire, are looking for a Continuous Improvement Engineer. The Continuous Improvement Engineer role is an exciting and highly rewarding position, where you can make a real impact upon how the company functions moving forward. Working in a fast-moving manufacturing environment, candidates should have an awareness of manufacturing techniques such as, line balancing, process flow /mapping, process control, 5S, Kaizen and Kanban systems alongside method studies.Working Hours/Benefits:8:30 - 5:00 Mon - Thurs8:30 - 1:30 FriFlexi-time of 30 minutes at either side of the core hours is available Mon - ThursExcellent pension scheme and generous company benefits, plus free on-site parking.Key Responsibilities

  • Standard Work Rate Setting / Time & Motion Studies
  • Identifying key improvements through Product & Process Flow, Value Stream Mapping, Data analysis and evaluation
  • Manufacturing Floor Layouts
  • Leader of lean practices and principals.
  • Project Management of key manufacturing and logistics improvements
  • Essential Experience
  • Experience of Total Improvement within the automotive Tier 1 or FMCG environment.
  • DFMA/FMEA /Statistical Process Control methodologies and their application.
  • Cell layout, manufacturing process and work station design.
  • Materials flows, Kanban system and pull systems.
  • Project management of NPI processes and activities
  • LEAN methodology, PDCA, SPC, Kaizen, SMED, 5S and standard work rate setting.
  • Ability to build comprehensive SOPs and work instructions.
  • Experienced Project Manager, with proven ability delivering to deadlines and utilisation of Project Management tools and techniques
  • Previously experiencein a fast – moving production environment, good level of safety awareness and strongIT skills. Other skills required,ability to conduct time and motion studies, identify and map product and process flows through a company, and translating data in to space plans and floor layouts.
  • Proven ability to motivate, develop and coach teams.
  • Equipped to assess the main issue quickly, identifying potential improvements and engage people.
  • Able to work as part of a team, support and contribute towards the drive for continuous improvement and assist withdepartmental improvements initiatives encompassing People; Safety; Quality; Service & Cost.
  • Qualifications/Skills
  • Engineering Degree in a related field.
  • A thorough understanding of computerised planning and scheduling techniques associated with modern manufacturing (skilled in Excel, MS VISIO etc.)andthe ability to analyse data in a logical way.
  • Formalised LEAN manufacturing training (Green Belt standard), and project management training would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Value Stream Mapping
  • An in-depth knowledge of cycle times and costings would be advantageous.
