Job Description

Role – Plasterers x 2competitive PAYE pay rate of £13.47.Leeds City Council is one of the largest employers in West Yorkshire, with around 33,000 employees based over multiple sites. Reed Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with Leeds City Council providing them with all of their temporary staffing needs.Reed currently have anumber of excellent opportunities available to work within Leeds Building Servicesas aPlasterer.Leeds building Services is the council’s internal Service Provider of construction and maintenance services. The service currently deliver responsive repairs, maintenance and planned worksThis is an exciting time to join Leeds Building Services as we have recently been through a period of transformational change, bringing two internal services providers together formally in August 2017 to create a brand new service.Role –Plasterers x 2competitive PAYE pay rate of £13.47.Responsiblefor undertaking plastering servicesin a range of housing and non-housing properties,ensuring all work is of a high standard and carried out in strict compliance with all relevant legislation and council procedures concerning the health and safety of self and others.Accountabilities:

  • Carry out inspections of occupied and empty properties
  • Determine the extent of plastering required and identify the most cost-effective preparation / repair / application of plastering products
  • Prepare and clean surfaces using methods such as scraping, sanding, sand-blasting and steam-cleaning. Remove old wallpaper and loose paint in preparation for plaster work
  • Repair cracks and holes in walls
  • Work in conjunction with allied trades on multi trade sites
  • Apply council values and abide by all relevant policies and procedures in particular those relating to equality, safeguarding and health and safety
  • Skills, Experience and Specialist Knowledge:
  • Completing a full range of plastering tasks
  • Prioritising workloads and working independently to complete tasks
  • Planning or organising plastering works / projects
  • Communicating effectively with all persons
  • Understanding instructions, plans and drawings, producing, maintaining and administering records
  • Utilising IT systems and technology to maintain appropriate records
  • Working alone or in conjunction with allied trades on multi trade sites
  • Qualifications / Certificated Training:
  • Minimumqualification of NVQ level 2or equivalent
  • Current, valid UK driving licence
  • Working at height using scaffolding / portable staging ladders and other access equipment,
  • Manual Handling
  • Asbestos Awareness
