Job Description

Role – Care Assistant competitive PAYE pay rate of £9.30Leeds City Council is one of the largest employers in West Yorkshire, with around 33,000 employees based over multiple sites. Reed Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with Leeds City Council providing them with all of their temporary staffing needs.Reed currently have a number of excellent opportunities available to work within Leeds City Council as a Care Assistant. There are various home across Leeds such as Knowle Manor, Dolphin Manor, RecoveryHub@SouthLeeds and Home Lea House.Role – Care AssistantTo work as part of a team providing practical, personal care and support to service users to help create a homely atmosphere. To be constantly alert to the service user’s needs, caring and encouraging lifestyles which are as independent as possibleAccountabilities:

  • Provide a service that will maintain and promote independence and dignity for the service user.
  • Provide a service that respects the confidential nature of the work.
  • Assist service users with all aspects of personal care and mobility including dressing, bathing, toileting and eating. Which requires a certain amount of moving and handling service users.
  • Responsible for individual care programmes for small groups of service users.
  • Help arrange group and individual activities, which stimulate and interest service users and contribute towards a homely atmosphere.
  • Report all changes in service user’s health, behaviour or lifestyle to duty officers and maintain appropriate records.
  • In case of staff shortages help with general domestic tasks concerned with catering, cleaning and laundry as necessary.
  • Occasionally go on outings, trips and holidays with service users. (when necessary and when appropriately licensed and approved occasionally drive a mini bus)
  • In the case of staff shortages or emergencies to assist in other similar establishments.
  • To undertake other duties appropriate to the post as required by the Unit Manager.
  • To comply with the requirements of all Leeds City Council and Departmental policies, procedures and staff instructions, including responsibilities under the Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • To actively promote and support Leeds City Councils and Departmental Policies on Equal Opportunities and to work in an anti-oppressive manner.
