Job Description

Stores Person / Material Handler / Engineering Stores PersonSalary: £24,336 pa, Overtime paid at Time and a HalfGood hours availableMid-day finish on a FridayPermanent positionImmediate start available in January 2022Own transport required due to locationAn Assistant Stores Person / Material Handler is required by long established and respected engineering manufacturing Company; to be responsible for assisting with organising the arrival, storage, issue and reporting of material movements into the factoryand in and out of stores.The Assistant Stores Person / Material Handler will additionally assist as necessary with the maintenance of stock and traceability records held in the stores and will also help maintain the required stock levels.The ideal candidate will come from an engineering/manufacturing background with.The main duties of the Assistant Stores Person / Material Handler will be to:

  • Issue requested consumable Materials from the Stores, recording such transaction on the currently used stock recording system
  • Issue and receive back requested loaned tools from / to Stores, recording such transactions on the currently used stock recording system
  • Assist with the reception of materials deliveries, helping to ensure that the advised quantities of the correctly delivered items coincide with the purchase order. Reporting any discrepancies or quality concerns
  • Assist with the marrying of advice notes and purchase orders delivering the same to the purchase department on a daily basis
  • Liaison a good working relationship with the factory Supervisors and stocking the job baskets with the correct goods from pick list issued from the material controllers
  • Prepare, protect and pack consignments for deliveries to customers and / or suppliers, ensuring that the items despatched will be protected during transit
  • Assist with maintaining all material handling equipment is kept clean and tidy
  • Deliver and collect materials as required
  • Apply experience & share ideas on improving procedures both in material control and across the factory
Personal SpecificationIn order to be suitable for this role, you must be organised, methodical, tidy and precise.
  • Previous experience of the stores and material handling is desired
  • Forklift operator certificate is an advantage, but retaining can be arranged
  • Must be computer literate - with good working knowledge of Microsoft software
  • The ideal candidate will be a team player who is flexible with their approach and able to demonstrate effective time management
Location: In the Royston - Biggleswade - St. Neots - Sandy area.Own transport required due to locationHours: Mon 07.30-16.00, Tue 07.30-16.30 Wed & Thu 07.30-17.00 & Fri 07.30-12.00Please bear in mind that you may not hear from us straight away.
