Job Description

Ocean Import OperatorSale, Manchester£27,000 - £32,000Monday – Friday, 08:30-17:00I am currently recruiting for a dynamic UK freight forwarder with a track record of multiple awards and ongoing expansion. Offering a diverse array of logistics solutions, this company is actively seeking an Ocean Import Operator to join their expandingteam based in the Manchester office.Renowned for their expertise in multimodal operations and proficiency in customs clearances, they are looking for an individual to take on the role of overseeing the entire import process for ocean shipments.The Candidate:

  • Previous experience as an Ocean Import Operator in a freight forwarding or logistics company, with a focus on ocean shipments and full customs declarations.
  • Proficiency in using freight forwarding systems would be highly essential.
  • Solid knowledge of customs regulations and procedures, including experience with import customs documentation and clearance.
  • Familiarity with multimodal operations, including coordination with carriers, suppliers, and customs authorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately complete import documentation and customs declarations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple shipments and prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge of Incoterms and international trade terms.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage the import process for ocean shipments, ensuring all documentation and customs requirements are accurately completed.
  • Handle customs declarations for imports, adhering to relevant regulations and maintaining compliance.
  • Coordinate with international suppliers, carriers, and customs authorities to ensure timely and smooth customs clearance.
  • Communicate with customers, providing updates on shipment status, customs requirements, and resolving any import-related issues.
  • Arrange transportation, including booking with carriers and coordinating delivery to final destinations.
  • Monitor and track shipments, ensuring they meet delivery schedules and notifying customers of any delays or disruptions.
  • Handle invoicing, billing, and reconciliation of import-related charges.
