Job Description

Sanctuary Personnel, a leading recruitment company within the private and public sector has a locum role for a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse to work full-time (37.5 hours per week) based in Rotherham, within the Memory Assessment Service.The pay rate for this Registered Mental Health Nurse job is £25 - £26 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an initial 1-month contract.This post is rotationally split as follows: 80% clinical, 10% management, 5% education and 5% research development.Duties:

  • Provide a high quality, accessible service for patients in the Rotherham area, who are experiencing memory problems
  • Complete initial assessments, cognitive testing and monitoring of the needs of clients experiencing memory problems
  • Deliver diagnosis and provide post diagnosis support
  • Provide ongoing education/guidance/support to clients and carers both during and after assessment
  • Work as a supplementary/independent prescriber
  • Provide a holistic patient assessment and structured carer interview
  • Responsible for completing specialist initial assessment and interpretation of results to provide a baseline for future treatment/care
  • Work autonomously and show initiative when planning clients care
  • Deliver diagnosis and offer expert advice regarding the diagnosis and treatment and provide education/support to both clients and carers
  • Provide education on the different kinds of dementia and how to manage the symptoms of dementia
  • Monitor and evaluate patient response to treatment, with autonomy to recommend and implement changes as required
  • Work as a supplementary/independent prescriber according to Trust policies
  • Visit clients and carers in their own home environment to complete initial assessments, reviews and treatment around care plans
  • Act up as team leader managing staff as necessary
  • Manage own caseload
  • Be responsible for setting standards of care by implementing protocols to develop best practice
  • Be involved for setting/monitoring auditing of work within the service
Requirements of the Registered Mental Health Nurse:
  • Degree or equivalent within Mental Health Nursing (RMN trained)
  • NMC registration and a valid live pin
  • Previous mental health nursing experience
  • Autonomy to accept/re-refer/reject referrals to the service as appropriate
  • Autonomy to refer to other professionals/agencies as required
  • Be competent in the current use of the Memory Service IT systems and be able to type reports to a good standard
  • Be aware of and comply with RDASH Trust policies and procedures
