Job Description

A well known social housing contractor are looking for an experienced Temporary Works Engineer to join their business due to an increase in workload. This role is essential for the safe construction of the projects within the business.Client DetailsThis client is a large social housing contractor who work across the UK and focus predominantly on social housing refurbishment projects across the UK. This role is based in the office near Rotherham and they are ideally looking for someone within commutabledistance from the office and sites in the area.DescriptionYour key responsibilities will include:

  • Serve as the Responsible Person and Temporary Works Engineer for the region.
  • Lead Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) for the region, and act as TWC for complex schemes requiring detailed designs when necessary.
  • Offer expert advice and guidance on temporary works engineering solutions to the business.
  • Prepare design drawings and specifications for temporary works projects.
  • Review and approve design drawings created by others.
  • Inspect and sign off on-site temporary works, ensuring completion of necessary permits such as the Permit to Load, when required.
  • Collaborate with other departments and teams within the business to address engineering challenges and solutions.
ProfileTo be successful in this role is is important that you have:
  • A relevant civil or structural engineering degree
  • Membership of a relevant professional body e.g., MICE or working towards
  • Experience of designing and checking temporary works e.g., propping, falsework, scaffolding, crane bases
  • Knowledge of the relevant design codes and standards applicable to temporary works.
  • Good understanding of geotechnical issues and design
  • Use of AutoCAD
  • Self-motivated and able to organise own workload, diary, and reporting schedules/targets
