Job Description

Buyer£33,000Rotherham, South YorkshireAs a Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting all procurement processes and transactions. Your primary objectives include ensuring efficient and cost-effective sourcing of goods, equipment, and materials while maintaining the desired quality and specifications.Your responsibilities will encompass considerations for health, safety, and environmental factors. This position has been created to optimise the purchasing of all bought-in items concerning cost, quality, and delivery, emphasising low-cost global sourcing opportunities. The role requires effective liaison with personnel at all levels within the companyto meet stakeholder expectations and provide the Senior Leadership Team with accurate information for informed decision-making and financial optimisation. Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for a £5 million annual spend
  • Ensure visibility of all items within the supply chain to facilitate timely supply of materials, goods, and equipment in alignment with the right part-right time program
  • Support production to meet delivery dates, enabling the shipment of units and spares On Time In Full (OTIF) through expediting and substitution when necessary
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers to achieve stocking arrangements, nullify lead time risks, establish mutually beneficial price breaks, deliver business plan objectives, and address non-conformance reports in collaborationwith the Quality department
  • Negotiate favourable terms and costs with suppliers, mitigating risks associated with single-source suppliers by actively investigating alternatives
  • Collaborate with the design team to identify alternatives and substitutions in the event of shortages
Previous Experience:
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience working at both transactional and strategic levels across all functions in a fast-paced environment
  • Showcase success in developing supplier relationships, managing vendor performance, and conducting successful negotiations on an international scale
  • Be a collaborative team player capable of independent initiative
  • Exhibit excellent communication and IT skills
  • Have experience using the Progress Plus MRP system or a similar ERP system
Preferred but not essential:
  • Previous experience in a Continuous Improvement environment, utilizing CI tools to solve problems
  • Experience in procuring electronics components
  • Worked in the capital equipment sector.
