Job Description

Job Title: Training Manager - Ship Systems Training TeamLocation: RosythSF34199Salary: £45,000Purpose of roleYou will undertake the management of the training organisation responsible for the delivery of the Initial Training solution for a major naval surface warship programme, through effective project management and the intelligent application of the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT). The job holder will be responsible to the T31 Training Programme Manager within the Marine Training Business Unit of the Marine and Technology Sector. The position will be based in Rosyth with a requirement for some travel within the UK and Europe.Main Tasks:Support the Training Programme Manager to establish and maintain the Training Programme Management Organisation and Management of Training System for the delivery of the Initial Training solution for the Type 31 Frigate, support the Training Programme Manager to establish and maintain the training facilities required for the delivery of the Initial Training solution for the Type 31 Frigate and support the Training Programme Manager in the timely production of Training and Training Equipment contract deliverables.You will comply with all relevant legislative, legal and policy requirements and standards to ensure all Initial Training activities are safe and risk-focused, ensuring effective engagement with key stakeholders to achieve the required training outcomes.You will manage a team of Ship Systems Instructional staff, ensuring that all personnel are suitably qualified, experienced and competent to undertake their roles, manage the planning, scheduling and delivery of the training required by the Ships Companies, Commissioning Engineers, Ship Systems Training Team and Contractor Sea Acceptance Trials personnel, manage the Internal Validation activities, including the reporting of training statistics, and provide timely and considered responses to any External Validation received and manage the trainee records and competency award processes.You will also review, monitor and manage the effective use of resources to achieve the required training and associated outcomes within time and cost constraints, support the Training Programme Manager with the development of the Initial to Steady State Training Transition Plan and support the management of the business in line with the Groups corporate governance policies, processes and procedures including those relating to Health and Safety, Information Assurance and other key compliance frameworks.Required skills, experience and qualificationsYou will require recent experience in a Training Management role, recent experience of Project Management and experience in applying the UKs Defence Systems Approach to Training.You will also require a good understanding of the UK Defence maritime training environment, proven ability to work effectively in a complex multi stakeholder environment and a proven track record of successfully delivering outputs within time and cost constraintsYou should be computer literate with good working knowledge of MS Office applications, excellent communications and relationship building ability and experience of working in an engineering/technical environment.
