Job Description

NDT Technicians Business Unit - Energy & Marine Location: Rosyth Competitive Salary with shift allowance and overtime available Day and night shifts Ref SF31081 About the Role Here at Babcock International, we are looking to employ NDT Technicians to join our Energy & Marine Division at Rosyth Dockyard. You will be working on a contract to manufacture tactical missile tube assemblies as part of the Common Missile Compartment (CMC) project for the UK Successor and US Ohio Class replacement submarine programmes. This highly specialised, internationally significant work places Babcock as a critical supplier of missile tube assemblies, utilising our core skills and expertise delivering part of a programme to support the future deterrent submarines for both the UK and US Navy. Joining a team of NDT Technicians, you will carry out NDT in accordance with SNT-TC-1A compliant NDT Programme, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Liquid Penetrant inspection and Ultrasonic Inspection of welds and machined components. You will also:

  • Accurately report NDT activities in a timely manner
  • Update and communicate inspection metrics in line with day to day activities
  • Develop working relationships with work colleagues

What do I need to do the role You should have sufficient qualifications and experience to undergo additional project specific training to achieve certification under our SNT-TC-1A NDT Programme. This shall include the following:
  • As a minimum hold PCN Level II in MT, PT, UT (3.1, 3.2, 3.8, 3.9) (UT requires 3.8, 3.9)
  • VT and RT PCN Level 2 preferable
  • Proven continued experience in NDT
  • Previous experience working in a highly regulated environment
  • We would also like you to have experience in the following:
  • Proven knowledge of the practices and standards associated with the NDT;
  • High level of attention to detail;
  • IT ability in the practical use of Microsoft Office;
  • Ability obtain full SC clearance.
