The Lead Engineer will coordinate the work of various disciplines for the Type 31 frigate project, including designers from a variety of disciplines including piping, outfitting, electrical and structural.Remote working will be available with occasional site travel required.Key Responsibilities:* Coordination of work between disciplines, adjustment to plans to suit project priorities* Liaising with suppliers for the equipment, reviewing TPI* Liaising with other disciplines: electrical, transversals, structural, outfit, etc* Overview of the 3D model development, troubleshooting, managing changes* Managing the technical query process* Coordinating change process* Supporting at design reviews. Achieving acceptance by class and Technical Authority.* Be aware of and ensure that; safety, health and environmental requirements are implemented.Experience Required:* Marine (Naval) or similar experience - industries such as Oil and Gas may be considered* Experience in Design for Manufacture within a marine build and/or conversion marketplace* Good knowledge of shipbuilding practicesCurrent security clearance or the ability to obtain security clearance for MoD projects is a must.The role is available on an initial 6 month contract with good likelihood for further extension (Inside IR35)
