Our ambitious and exciting vision is to work at local, national and international levels, leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture and rural sectors.We are seeking a high-motivated individual to join our team in the Animal and Veterinary Sciences department and contribute to the development of an exciting research programme investigating the role of steroid hormones in obesity using a porcine model.Specifically, we are seeking someone to conduct in vitro experiments using molecular and cell biological techniques and manage the day-to-day lab organisation and activities. The role will include contributing to all aspects of technical and scientific supportfor staff and students within the group.Main Responsibilities1. Carry out routine molecular and cell biology techniques (including troubleshooting when required), including but not limited to RNA and protein extraction, cell culture, Western blotting, histological and immunohistochemical experiments and immunoassays.Present experimental data to group meetings and provide feedback on experiments.2. General lab duties; maintain laboratory and sample records and replenish consumable stocks, organise the laboratory space and sample storage and maintaining up-to-date risk assessments, maintain lab equipment.3. Assist in training of undergraduate and post-graduate students working within the lab.In August 2022, all academic roles will be assimilated to a new job families structure.
