Job Description

Emergency Assistance Scheme Administrative Assistant

  • £12.50 per hour - paid weekly
  • 9-5pm, Monday - Friday (some flexibility required for occasional weekend work)
  • 35 hours per week
  • Romford Office
  • Full office based
  • Duration - funding until end of March - possibility for extension beyond this date
The Emergency Assistance Scheme (EAS) is a hardship fund administered by the council in order to provide emergency financial assistance to low income residents.The role will be a full time admin assistant whos core responsibilities will be processing applications against a set criteria.
  • To provide a high-quality and appropriate Welfare Benefits advice that is accurate and ensures the best outcome for every client accessing the service.
  • Assist the Refugee Resettlement Benefits Officer to deliver high quality services to users and meet the strategic targets and goals of the Council.
  • Provide advice on income maximisation through benefit channels to residents either via the refugee resettlement scheme, cost of living response or other channels yet to be specified
  • Support the Senior Refugee Resettlement Officer in understanding and assessing financial case information where relevant to Emergency Assistance scheme applications
  • Liaise with internal teams and specialist, such as Refugee Resettlement Benefits Officer and the Refugee Resettlement Finance & Data Officer to ensure that changes to case details are shared and all active systems are updated to reflect accurate information
  • Use all internal systems, to ensure that all information shared and interactions with clients are recorded and accessible for team members to view
  • Liaise with senior management regarding operational issues extending from the delivery of the service
