Job Description

I am recruiting on behalf of a Sports organisation in Newport. My client is seeking to recruit a part-time (ideally 2 - 3 days per week) experienced Accounts Manager to join the business who will be able to head up the small finance team and oversee theday to day of the Club’s finance. The successful candidate will provide support to the Manager and the Board in terms of all financial matters.Key Responsibilities of the role will include -

  • To provide input relating to the systems and processes to manage the Club’s financial information.
  • To maintain and develop an efficient financial information system.
  • To maintain accurate accounting records including completion of VAT and PAYE records and to provide assistance to the Club’s Auditors as required.
  • To manage the collection and payment of Club monies.
  • To maintain financial records relating to Members, Visitors, Corporate and Social functions.
  • To provide financial information to assist in the preparation and presentation of the annual budgets and accounts for the Annual and Special General Meetings.
  • To prepare monthly financial information for presentation to the Management Board.
  • To participate in the Club’s Performance and Development Review (PDR) Scheme.
  • To provide financial information relating to existing and future Capital Expenditure.
  • To provide guidance relating to all financial matters impinging upon the Club’s finances.
  • To assist the Board to cost-effectively manage the Club’s financial income & expenditure.
  • To provide administrative assistance to the Club Manager and Office Administrator when necessary
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated professional who is able to deliver on their own work with minimum supervision. You will have a previous track record of demonstrating persistence and commitment to completing tasks and objectives on time,and will be able to deliver work output and detail to the required standard.You will also be a great communicator who is able to build and maintain working relationships with others and is seen as approachable. You will also be able to demonstrate sound judgement and good decision making when dealing with problems, as well as continuouslystrive for process improvements.The successful candidate will be an experienced accountant who has prior knowledge of accounting principles and credit control, ideally whilst using SAGE. You will possess advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Email.
