Job Description

We are searching for a Head of Education to take on a fantastic opportunity in one of the prisons we are supporting. If you are passionate about supporting vulnerable people and are looking for a new, challenging opportunity, this is the perfect role foryou!Role Details:

  • Full Time- 37 Hours Per Week
  • Working hours 8am- 5:15pm Monday- Friday
  • £48,610.17 to £52,887.99 based on experience and qualifications
  • Permanent Role

  • Lead and manage the Education Manager and Head of Inclusion (SENCo) to ensure that the curriculum is in line with National Policy Drivers (within the constraints of security) and relevant labour markets
  • Ensure that the resettlement planning begins at induction and is part of a coordinated approach with the local casework team and all relevant supporting agencies
  • Ensure inclusion strategy engages with all Young People with the aim of integration, inclusion and maximising their potential.
  • Be an active member in all establishment SMT meetings and daily operational briefings held by the YOI Governor, and other strategic meetings
  • Create excellent forward-thinking working relationships with the local community, including schools, YOTs, all full time providers of education and training, and employer partners
  • Timely and proactive management and resolution of issues
  • Ensure performance data is collected, monitored, analysed and reported as required.
  • Cross-establishment strategic role, promote working collaboratively as "one team"
  • In partnership with the YOI plan and manage high quality and high performing education services that meet the needs of learners and which are established as an integral and central part of the wider custodial environment of YOI
  • Lead, plan, develop and sustain a highly skilled, flexible, qualified and experienced education team to meet the individual needs of Learners, and aims of the YOI.
  • Achieve operational, financial and quality targets by effective and transparent planning, analysis and reporting processes
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Educated to degree level
  • Hold QTLS
  • Hold or be willing to work towards an Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) accredited qualification or equivalent qualification
  • Experience strategically managing a complex education service and achieving outstanding results within budget and deadlines
  • Experience managing a highly achieving, qualified and motivated team
  • Learner focused
  • Excellent communicator with strong influencing negotiating skills
