Working for one of the UKs most recognised brands at one of their divisions in Staffordshire, this is an interesting and challenging role, working within the manufacturing purchasing department.The role is based within Group Purchasing and is responsible for the efficient purchasing of a particular category within production.The role is responsible for liaising with stakeholders in the group to formulate and execute business wide category strategies that deliver cost effective solutions for operational requirements and provide commercial services in respect to acquiring all materials at the total lowest cost.Reporting directly to a Global Category Manager the role is responsible for delivering the strategic direction as agreed and ensuring that the supply base is capable of meeting business expectations.The Strategic Buyer role involves overseeing the management of suppliers, working closely with Engineering, Quality and Materials to ensure category objectives are met globally in support of long term plans.Requirements• Purchasing in a Manufacturing Environment, ideally with experience in plastics and/or fabrications• Global Sourcing• Working within a Global and Matrix Organisation• New Product Introduction• Engineering or Design understanding Category Management• Budget Planning and Reporting• Supplier Contracts• Project Management• Practical Problem Solving• Advanced Negotiation TechniquesPersonal skills• Strong interpersonal and communication skills• Customer focused approach• Attention to detail• Influential dexterity• Conflict resolution ability• Results OwnershipIdeally the candidate should have the following:• A degree or equivalent in a relevant subject• CIPS qualified (preferred)• Business or Engineering background• 3 - 5 years of relevant experience• Financial awareness• Flexibility to travel Required skills
