Job Description

What is great about the role The Old Bakery provides support to up to 5 individuals between the ages of 16 and 21. Located in the Aberdare area, this is a role where you have the autonomy to come up with innovative ideas which get our young people out and about to have new experiencesand learn new skills. No 2 days are the same and it is especially rewarding when you see their development and help them move on into their own tenancy.Key details

  • We have a permanent part time position available for 20 hours per week.
  • The scheme is covered 24 hours, 7 days a week so you would be expected to work on a rota basis which would involve: day shifts, waking nights and weekends.
  • A typical shift pattern includes the following:- 9am- 3pm, 3pm- 10pm & 9pm - 9am.
  • For this role you will require an Enhanced DBS check, which we pay for.
  • We offer a holiday entitlement of 26 days plus bank holidays, sick pay, and excellent pension options and mileage Paid at 45p per mile
Day to Day Duties: As a Scheme Support Officer, you will work alongside the Project Workers providing the crucial support to our clients.Your day will consist of:
  • Engaging and interacting with the people we support
  • Delivering workshops relating to tenancy management, health, wellbeing, sexual health, and any other subject depending on the needs of our young people
  • Supporting our young people as directed by the Project Worker according to the support plan specifically tailored to each person
  • Wellbeing checks
  • Ensuring the building is secure including health & safety checks and maintaining an awareness of who is in the building
  • Encouraging our people to engage in the support we have on offer to them
  • Coming up with new, innovative ideas and activities
  • Dealing with challenging behaviours and responding to arising needs
  • Addressing any additional needs, the people we support might have
Our aim is to ensure we equip these individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to live independently. This is a challenging role and you will be faced with complex behaviours and needs, including self-harming, alcohol misuse, mental health, substancemisuse, anti-social behaviour, learning difficulties, and on some occasions a lack of engagement.You will work with a range of different personalities and behaviours and each person we support has come from a different background, with their own story to tell, so you will need to be able to adapt your approach to engage with a diverse cliental.How we support you: In Pobl, people really are at the heart of everything we do and there are endless opportunities for training and career development and progression.
