Job Description

Academics are working in partnership with a good Ofsted rated middle school near Redditch to recruit an experienced science technician.Science technician role:Hours: Full time, term timeStart date: April 2021Duration: Duration of summer termRate of pay: £70 to £100 per day - negotiable upon experienceThe successful science technician will ensure that practical classroom sessions are effectively delivered in accordance with the requirements of the science teachers, whilst following safe working practices throughout. Main duties will include:

  • Liaising with teaching staff ensuring that practical sessions are prepared in accordance with the curriculum needs and to provide support during practical lessons when needed
  • Preparing, setting out, making up solutions, assembling apparatus, delivering equipment to rooms and clearing away apparatus and chemicals
  • Servicing practical areas, maintaining equipment and on call attention to hazardous spills, broken glassware etc
    • The Headteacher requires an established science technician, so previous school experience is essential. They are ideally looking for a proactive science technician who:
  • Has knowledge of COSHH regulations in relation to the safe handling and storage of chemicals
  • Has knowledge of Health & Safety legislation as it relates to the work of a school
  • Is approachable, organised and conscientious with good communication and ICT skills
  • Is eligible to work in the UK
  • Possesses a current enhanced DBS certificate that is registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new one
