Job Description

The RoleTo manage the operations planning activity for a specific business area / forge. This role is accountable for the planning activities within the specific area to ensure that the capabilities and capacities of operations are balanced with the needs of salesto best support the customer needs and financial plans.The Role will focus on the following responsibilities Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning * Lead weekly SIOP meetings.* Support Head of Planning with Monthly SIOP meetings and input* Ensure weekly planning activity is robust and timely and looks forwards to agreed planning horizon on a rolling weekly basis* Maintain regular detailed load and capacity plans to ensure the effective use of resources (assets and people) to satisfy customers and meet financial targets* Recommend actions (Men, Machines, Material and Method) to balance load and capacity to meet business objectives* Manage and reschedule arrears within business area* Ensure plans are in place to meet contractual requirements for buffer stock with customers* Recommend strategic buffer stocks required to meet customers service levels* Identify key parts in your area and manage Master Production Schedule* To ensure the maintenance of the capacity planning data on EFACS (e.g., Work centres, sections, shifts, holidays, performance factors, blocking for TPM)Planning * Ensure the Master Production Plan (MPS or Sales Order Commit date) within your area accurately reflects the current operations status / plan.* Report plan adherence KPIs and recommend corrective actions* Support rate readiness and load / capacity reviews with customers* Support New Product Introduction within your area* Ensure signals to suppliers are accurate and timely using either MRP or Kanban triggers for replenishment* Ensure suppliers have visibility of forward demand* Complete necessary re-planning activity to recover unforeseen problems, liaising with COAs to minimize customer impact* Support VP and Cell Leads with all planning activities in your area* Ensure detailed plans with sufficient visibility are available for the tool room to ensure dies are available and accommodate within production plan* Support area daily stand-up* Ensure accuracy of all EFACS planning data for parts in your business area* Maintain accurate system lead-times and proactively target reductions* Provide the Pull signal (WTL) to suppliers to ensure OTIF delivery* Ensure transactions are timely* Maintain capacity data for resources (work centres, people) and load (parts)* Provide feedback of KPIs to VPInventory Management * Forecast working capital requirements for raw material, WIP and finished goods within your area* Support improvement projects to continually reduce working capital including improving flow, lead-time, and batch size reduction* Ensure effective optimization of working capital versus transactional capacity through use of MRP planning parameters* Support VP in improving flow of product through operations from raw material to finished goods Expedite raw material delivery and availability to business requirementsExperience and Qualifications* Master Production Scheduling* Experience of production planning and control* Has Engineering / Manufacturing and Logistics experience* MRP planning* Microsoft Excel (intermediate or above)* Business Improvement skills* Use of KPIsKey Technical / Professional Competencies* Planning proactive - anticipates problems and develops effective plans / contingency actions* Communication - ensures key messages are understood and the required actions are taken* Problem solving - is able to solve problems and get things done* Robustness - copes well with pressure, uncertainty and changing circumstances* Understanding and operation of ERP systems* Understanding of inventory control* Understand requirements of the quality system
