Job Description

Due to recent investment and growth, The Lighting Consultants are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Build Technician with at least 2 years of experience to join our team in Redditch.We are in a continuous growth program and entering a new chapter in the development of the business. The role requires a fresh-thinking, dynamic individual who can combine experience and enthusiasm to help us reach our targets.About UsOur founding Director, Chris Eardley, was already well-established as one of the key automotive lighting specialists. He realised that there is a better way to do automotive lighting, so now thats what we do!We started our consultancy to help our customers get the products they need and their end users ultimately deserve. We have been a leading automotive lighting manufacturer for over 4 years!About the RoleThe role requires building cutting-edge complex lamp assemblies, combining electronic, mechanical and optical systems, whilst meeting the customers and TLCs expectations in terms of timing, cost, quality and customer satisfaction.You will be responsible for the early identification, communication of possible issues and weaknesses and recommendation of possible solutions to resolve them. The successful candidate will report to the Production Manager.Key Responsibilities

  • To build complex lamp assemblies combining mechanical, optical and electronic components
  • Help to train other operatives as required
  • Work with other cross-functional team (CFT) members to assist in continuous improvement activities and identifying opportunities
  • Escalate issues or potential issues as they arise, assist in problem-solving where required
  • Work with CFTs to assist in compiling work instructions and processes
  • Comply with health, safety and build environment requirements
  • Comply with business process and procedures
Experience Required:
  • Educated to ONC/BTEC Level 3/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent or demonstrable experience in a relevant field2+ years
  • Demonstrable experience in assembling mechanical/electronic componentsexposure to automotive lighting assembly would be specifically beneficial.
  • Appropriate APC training and certification for electronicsspecifically soldering would be highly beneficial or a willingness to undertake an appropriate APC course.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings to evaluate components and build from instructions.
  • Hands-on approach, ability to demonstrate problem-solving techniques and escalate issues as required.
  • Demonstrable experience in using automated equipment, including end-of-line testing
  • You will need to be eligible to work in the UK for us to consider you for the position
Desirable Experience:
  • Experience in automotive lighting would be preferable
  • Basic CAD manipulation skillsto aid with lamp component identification, assembly procedures, sectioning/measuring etc
  • Wiring harness manufacture experiencepreferred but not essential
  • Bench fitting skills
  • Work instruction creation
  • Training of operatives
  • Equipment programming
  • Continuous improvement in skills/qualifications
Required Skills:
  • Good verbal communication skills, demonstrating a level of attention to detail
  • Good presentation skillskeeping work area clean, methodically laid out and products built to QCD
  • Interpersonal skills that enable you to work with people at all levels and develop good working relationships
  • Be able to work effectively both independently and within a team
  • Full clean UK driving licence and valid passport
Benefits:
  • Working Hours: 37.5 per week. MondayThursday 07:0013:30, Friday 07:0012:30
  • 23 days holiday (rising to 28) plus 8 statutory days
