Job Description

Our client, based in Warwickshire, is a private-equity backed, highly acquisitive service provider.An exciting opportunity has been created for a commercially focused Director of Finance to oversee all day to day financial aspects of business and drive financial strategy and planning.The business has experienced significant growth in recent years, both organic and via acquisition, offering an unrivalled range of services to an impressive range of high-profile customers. As a result of this growth, the demands from the business on finance for improved commercial support and insight has increased.In what is a pivotal time for the organisation, developing the commercial finance and business partnering function will be key to the brief for this Finance Director.Working directly for the CFO and overseeing a large team, this is a business facing and hands-on role, supporting the operating board in controlling costs, driving operational and financial performance and analysing new opportunities.As Director of Finance, key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage a team of 30, enabling continuous development and maximising the value delivered for the business.
  • Ensure preparation of timely, accurate and insightful reporting of financial and KPI performance.
  • Own and drive the Group financial planning process - working closely with P&L owners to deliver a financial plan with clear links to operational actions and strategic objectives.
  • Drive a consistent, high quality and responsive approach across operational finance ensuring excellent client experience alongside optimising group cash flow.
  • Review and challenge business/investment cases from across the group, driving smarter commercial decisions.
  • Define and operate processes relating to capital expenditure and sales commission schemes.
  • Input into the Corporate Development strategy, managing relationships with partners and investors as appropriate.
  • Represent finance on key Group-wide governance boards and a be a key member of the Groups Senior Leadership Team.
  • Be a change leader in leading business-wide projects to improve operational efficiency and deliver excellent client experience.
  • Define and drive the finance system roadmap and how it complements the broader company IT roadmap.
    • This is a high-profile position within the organisation and as a result requires a high calibre and high potential candidate to fulfil the role. Therefore, the successful person will ideally possess the following:
  • Experience as a Director of Finance or similar senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record developing and leading a high-performance team.
  • Excellent knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices.
  • Record in leading change and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Experience leading cross-functional change, at pace.
  • Experience in a private equity environment is a positive
  • An approach that combines analytical approach with a strategic ability.
  • Ability to drive step change improvements in financial analysis and forecasting.
