Job Description

Our client, an innovative manufacturing organisation based in the South Birmingham region are looking for a commercially minded Assistant Financial Controller to head up the finance department and support their continued growth trajectory in a time of unparalleledgrowth.The Assistant Financial Controller will support the Financial Controller in managing the Finance team, implementing and maintaining internal controls and reporting key plant performance information.Key Responsibilities for the Assistant Financial Controller

  • Work as an integral part of the Plant Finance and Management team providing support and control to the south Birmingham site
  • Assist the Financial Controller in all aspects of corporate and internal reporting to ensure adherence to timetables, financial integrity and completeness
  • Assist in budget and short-term forecast preparation, profit and loss, cash flow and balance sheet
  • Management of 3 direct reports
  • Management of key KPIs including Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
  • Full responsibility for Free Cash Flow forecasting, monitoring and reporting
  • Pursuing Continuous Improvements to financial controls and other operational processes within the business
  • Management and completion of month-end processes including variance analysis
  • Reporting plant performance (actual, budgets, forecasts, variance walks) through Hyperion
  • Working closely with external auditors for year end and interim audit work
  • To review, maintain and implement internal controls including quarterly SOX testing
  • Development of direct report heads to achieve personal and professional goals
  • To complete ad hoc tasks as and when required
  • To support other team members as and when required
Key essentials of the Assistant Financial Controller
  • Extensive experience in all areas of accounting (E.g., ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
  • Significant experience as a user of IBM iSeries (AS400) and AS400Query
  • Computer and IT literate with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to think laterally with a strategic perspective
  • Able to convey complex data and concepts to all levels of the organisation and to achieve agreement with key stakeholders and decision makers in a manner that they can understand
