Job Description

Our Client is a fast growing multi sector speciality distributor of raw materials to the UK Manufacturing IndustryThey are now seeking an Assistant Buyer. This position will be office based in Redditch, Worcestershire and is a full-time permanent roleKey ResponsibilitiesSupplier Services

  • Manage stock purchases to achieve target turnover, reduce and monitor aged stock
  • Coordinate purchase orders from a global supply base
  • Work from the sales forecast to schedule stock orders to achieve target stock turnover, whilst satisfying external customers
  • Maintain good working relationships with suppliers and logistics partners to the agreed standard of service and quality
Customer Services
  • Coordinate customer sales orders and process invoices
  • Customer services liaison and sales team support
  • Outbound logistics coordination in line with levels of service and quality
  • Sales reporting to monitor the achievement of the business sales objectives
  • Sales forecasting and monitoring of customer buying trends to enable target stock turnover
  • Invoicing and debtor chasing
Strategic Development
  • Develop supply chain solutions for strategic projects
  • Developing and refining sales order processing and supply chain processes in conjunction with the Quality Manager
  • Manage 3rd Party Logistics and Warehousing suppliers including service level agreements, monitoring performance and implement corrective actions
  • Fulfil the needs of Product Stewardship for all stock items before, during and after processing through the business
  • Monitor changes in costs (supplier prices, duty, exchange / interest rates) to optimise the costing process
  • Implement the Sampling Process for the development of sales
Qualifications and Experience
  • Some demonstrable work experience in buying / purchasing is essential
  • Work experience in customer services, sales order processing and supply chain / logistics within a distribution environment is also desirable
  • Customer focused (internal and external)
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong planning and analytical skills to interpret customer demand forecast/historical sales into purchase forecasts
  • Sage Line 200 or equivalent experience is desirable
  • Organised, detail orientated, accurate, able to follow processes, proactive
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel
  • Trustworthy, Industrious and Pro-active
  • Ability to manage oneself and colleagues to work to a consistent high performance
  • Able to communicate with and develop effective relationships with internal and external customers
  • Practicing exponent of Microsoft Office software; computer literate
  • Highest standards and levels of accuracy, numeracy and literacy
