Job Description

Fibre Engineer £35,000 - £38000 + BonusGasgow/Edinburgh Vehicle, Fuel card, Tools and phoneAlecto Recruitment are looking for experienced Fibre Engineers to join a successful Telecoms company working on multiple major projects located across the M8 Corridor. Responsibilities include (but not limited to)

  • Live network Fusion splicing using Fujikura 70s or similar
  • Splicing and testing of external optical fibres to the end customer premise in line with quality standards using OTDR /ILM/PMD/CD/EXFO FTB200 or similar.
  • Adherence with Health and Safety legislation, working safely using gate guard and signage as appropriate.
  • Document completed fibre distribution points both inside the closure and externally showing position on chamber or on pole
  • 1 in every 4 weeks be on call. In return £150 for being on call for the week, if you are called out, this would be time and a half. Our client has 6 major T1 contracts that require service 24/7/365 days of the year.
Requirements:
  • Hold a valid NRSWA street works Operative Unit 2 ticket (SLG)
  • Geographically based within 1 hour driving commute to Broxburn
  • Experience of working in at least one Fibre Telecoms Network (e.g. Virgin Media/Openreach/CityFibre/SPEN/Neos/Vodafone)
  • Ability to produce, update and interpret records of daily work logs, data recordings, network design maps.
  • Be comfortable splicing up to 144F
Preferences:
  • Hold Scottish Power (SPEN) substation access authorisations (e.g. WI-1 WI-2 EN-1)
  • PIA Splicing & Testing Experience
