MGS applicants are required to attend a medical appointment to undertake a colour perception eye test and operational staff at RAF Flying Stations and Royal Navy Dockyards are also required to undertake a hearing test. The post advertised is for 37 hours net, however the Ministry of Defence offers a range of flexibilities to enable a better work-life balance for employees. Flexible working, Part-time working and Job Share working patterns will be considered.Job descriptionThe Role Effectively supervise all CSOs within the shift/team at all designated locations. Ensure that all CSOs on duty are properly dressed and in possession of necessary equipment. Ensure that the required duties are being serviced in accordance with the local tasking agreement. Difficulties in this area must be referred to the Operations Manager (OM). Ensure minor matters of discipline and inefficiency are dealt with appropriately. More serious matters must be referred to the local OM. Ensure that all equipment and accommodation defects are entered in the Daily Occurrence Book (DOB) and a report submitted to the relevant authority as soon as is practical. Ensure all relevant documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner and in a clear and easily read form. Assume control of any security incident until the arrival of a more senior officer. Must be polite and helpful at all times and maintain a presentable standard of dress and bearing. Manage the taking of meal breaks for all staff on his/her shift.ResponsibilitiesMain Responsibilities Control vehicle and pedestrian access to, and egress from, an Establishment. Issuing of passes. Patrolling on foot and in a vehicle Searching of vehicles, baggage, personnel, buildings and open areas. Escorting of visitors. Controlling traffic. Checking identity. Writing reports on breaches of security or defects etc. Dealing with demonstrators and intruders. Safeguard classified information and material. Co-operate with other security providers Liaise with Emergency Services Operate and monitor security systems; CCTV and alarms etc. Operate and communicate effectively over telephone or radio. Record information in the books provided. Report safety hazards and accidents in accordance with current instructions. Carry out, if required, initial action at the scene of any incident. Issue and receipt of keys together with ensuring their timely return. Prevention of fire. Driving a MOD vehicle, when in possession of a current FMT 600. Other appropriate tasks commensurate with the grade. Travel Requirements The permanent duty station will be RAF Mildenhall. You may, however be required to undertake detached duty at other sites within reasonable distance of your home should there be an operational requirement.
