Job Description

365 / VMware / Windows Server / Exchange Server / Active Directory / VEEAM / Antivirus / Sophos encryption / Gamma / Ubiquiti / Powershell VITS are a managed services provider, specialising in virtual private cloud solutions and public cloud solutions. We also provide internet connectivity, VOIP and remote / on-site support to our client base who have offices around the world. We are on the look out for a strong 2nd - 3rd Line Support Engineer to join an enthusiastic and vibrant team based in SW London (district Line). You will be working in a lively, fast-paced support environment and will be handling escalated support requests as well as contributing to larger projects. You will also be involved with some ordering tasks of spec’ing up servers and network equipment based upon the customer requirements and IT solutions including the provisioning of equipment at client sites and the Data Centre.We currently have many projects in the pipeline, and we are looking for an enthusiastic and technically competent candidate who is a team player. This an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a fast-paced environment where you can gain valuable IT experience and progress your path in IT.In order to be suitable for this position you must have proven experience working in a 2nd - 3rd Line Engineer or a System Administrator role with all-rounder IT skills or similar role covering desktop, server, networking, application support and administration. Experience working within an MSP is highly desirable. Applicants who have obtained industry standard certifications such as Microsoft MCSA or Cisco CCNA will be highly desirable. This is a great opportunity for the right person to grow their technical/customer facing skills. You will also be required to travel to customer sites within London and overseas when necessary.About the role:

  • You will be providing support to our clients both remotely (75%) and on-site (25%). So, we require a professional and friendly manner candidate
  • Diagnosing and resolving technical issues in a confident manner
  • Supporting key infrastructure technologies, Server, VMware, Veeam backup, Unifi, 2FA, escalations from 1st/2nd Line
  • We have a wide variety of clients in different industries, so you will be facing different issues and learning about a broad spectrum of IT software and hardware
  • Work closely with Senior Technical Consultant, Cisco expert and IT Director with projects
  • Provide guidance and support to service desk team and handle any escalations including overflow of support calls and work loads
  • Manage the service desk platform and monitoring
  • Essential:
  • Confident, clear and professional telephone manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem solving, logical mind, time management skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent customer facing and interpersonal skills, good team player and keen to improve overall team effectiveness and performance with a positive attitude
  • Strong Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot desktops and resolve issues on Windows / OSX client machines
  • At least 1-2 years prior experience in a similar role
  • Experience using ITIL service desk software to manage support workloads
  • Experience managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, powershell
  • Proven experience with Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 builds and troubleshooting
  • Thorough approach to maintaining documentation as and when required
  • Good understanding of networking (subnetting, DHCP, firewalls, VPN)
  • Experience using Office 365 services and migrations
  • Knowledge of VEEAM Backup & replication
  • Experience using RMM tools
  • knowledge managing virtual machines on VMWare and Hyper-V including resource management
  • Provide clients with IT consultancy/recommendations on product selection and solutions
  • Advantageous:
  • Degree-level qualification and / or Microsoft Certified e.g. MCDST
  • Management and troubleshooting of on-premise MS Exchange installations
  • Gamma/Horizon VOIP phone solution
  • Knowledge of Sophos hard drive encryption
  • Knowledge of hardware and software procurement
  • Some understanding of SLA’s/contracts and liaising/negotiating with suppliers
  • Linux systems: RHEL/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu
  • Cisco ASA/VPN Firewall configuration & support of VPN remote/site to site
