Job Description

NOW Careers are currently recruiting for an experienced Finance Assistant to join their award-winning Client based in the RCT.This a great opportunity on a full time, permanent basis paying a salary of up to £28,000 per annum depending on qualifications and level of experience.Hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm (1/2 hour for lunch) although flexible on times - working 1 day from home, rest of the week worked from the officeThis is a really great opportunity to join a growing business and become an integral part of their small finance team. The role will evolve over time, starting with transactional duties and then progressing into a more of an assistant accountant position,assisting in the preparation of management accounts, VAT returns, budget preparation, job costing and other financial and accounting tasks as and when required.The successful candidate will receive comprehensive mentoring from a fellow of ACCA - you will have the opportunity to apply your AAT knowledge and help to achieve your goals.Ideally you will -

  • Be studying AAT, or early stages ACCA or CIMA.
  • Have excellent attention to detail to help ensure transactions are recorded in an accurate and timely manner
  • Possess good IT skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel to a good standard
  • Be able to work within a team but also independently
  • Be organised
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication
Reporting into the Finance Director the duties of the role will include -
  • Processing purchase invoices, payment of supplier and completion of supplier statement reconciliations
  • Processing sales invoices and sales credit notes, chasing customer debt, sending customer statements
  • Processing bank transactions, completion of bank reconciliation accounts
  • Processing stock and costing transactions
  • Assisting in various financial projects
  • Opportunity to assist in monthly accounting activities, including monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, control accounts, financial analysis.
  • Opportunity to be involved in job costing.
  • Opportunity to assist and support in the preparation of annual accounts
  • Opportunity to assist and support budget preparation and analysis
  • Opportunity to assist with Statutory and Corporate reporting, such as VAT returns,
  • Opportunity to be involved with the year end audit
  • It is desirable that you have SAP experience but this is not essential.
