Job Description

H9 Technical are currently recruiting for a Shift Operator to work in the Operations department at our Biomass Power Plant, based in Port Talbot.Reporting into the Shift Team Leader, you will be responsible for:

  • Testing plant equipment including carrying out routine tasks and ensuring safe operation of the power station and recording plant data.
  • Making sure all activities carried out are in line with all health and safety regulations.
  • Reporting and recording and impacts or potential impacts on the environment.
  • Operate the plant from the control room in all operating conditions under supervision of the Shift Team Leader.
  • Ensure regular compliance with all aspects of the Environment Permit, reporting any non-compliance issues or incidents to the Shift Team Leader.
  • Carry out 1st line maintenance tasks as required to ensure safe running of the plant.
  • Monitor stocks and take receipt of consumables and collection of residues.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Ideally a relevant technical qualification such as a C&G/NVQ/ONC/HNC in an engineering discipline
  • At least 3 years experience in an operational environment on a power station or heavy process facility with steam raising plant. This could be energy from waste, coal, CCGT, biomass, CHP, nuclear or utilities.
  • Royal Navy Marine Engineers with significant watch keeping experience will also be considered at LET level.
  • Army forced personnel with steam-raising experience will also be considered.
  • Boiler or steam raising experience.
