Job Description

Role: Residential WorkerLocation: Port TalbotType: Permanent, Part Time - 30 hours per weekSalary: £25,500 per year circa per year with unbeatable perks!Benefits: Annual leave of 29 days (pro-rata) excluding public holidays,flexiblematernity, adoption and paternity packages, up to 7% employer contribution pension scheme, employee discount portal with all your favouritebrands, funded training and development, wellbeing networks at your fingertips and much, much more!Working for the safe and happy futures of children and young people.A little about the role and serviceThis is a fun and welcoming home and you will be joining a committed and ambitious team, led by a manager who really wants to see you develop and reach your potential!Park House was developed in partnership between Action for Children and Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council in 2012 and is a three-bedroom bungalow offering children and teenagers with disabilities short-term, planned residential breaks where the childrencan explore, make friends, access new opportunities and learn new life skills, all with the help from the staff team. Park House is purpose-built property in the heart of Port Talbot community close to beautiful Aberavon beach. As a Residential Worker, youwill be working closely with all members of the team to assist with the smooth running of the service and providing a stimulating environment for the children and young people. In return, we will give you the development and support you need to make this yourcareer.What Youll Do:

  • Lead with case and care planning for children and young people
  • Supervise and manage care staff
  • Act as shift lead which involves taking responsibility for those in your care
  • Ensure first-class standards of Safeguarding, Health and Safety and care interventions
  • Be a role model to the children and young people, as well as the wider team to help everyone be their best
  • Work closely with your Registered Manager and Team Leader to ensure objectives are met
  • Compile reports, care plans and updates through IT and paper-based methods use
What Youll Need:
  • A Level 3 Health & Social Care or equivalent qualification is desirable. If you dont hold the qualification, youll need a willingness to work towards it and registration with Social Care Wales and completion of AWIF (All Wales Induction Framework)
  • Experience of a similar role in a childrens home, residential short breaks or childrens services
  • Experience of supervising or receiving supervision in a care setting (reviewing and monitoring performance plans, setting targets, managing absences etc)
  • Flexibility to work shifts to meet the needs of the service which is open 7 days a week
  • The ability to adapt! Whether youre working with a child playing dinosaurs or participating in a multi-agency meeting, youll be a dab hand at adapting your approach
  • Understanding of Safeguarding, Confidentiality and GDPR and an awareness of social care legislation in Wales
