Welder Foreman £19.80ph Our partner client has been an integral part of shipbuilding on the River Clyde since 1903 and are now entering an exciting stage in our development as a world leader in marine engineering technology.Over the past few years Ferguson Marine has pushed the boundaries of innovation, particularly in the development of green propulsion technologies - first diesel-electric hybrid and then liquefied natural gas, demonstrated by the recent successful launches of MV Catriona and MV Glen Sannox. Next on the hit-list is hydrogen, a gaseous fuel that can be produced using curtailed renewable energy, stored and then used on board a zero-emission vessel with fresh water as the only by-product.Job Purpose:Support the production plan, ensuring delivery of production to set timescales/department targets and to quality standards.Responsibilities & Accountabilities:Manage and assign daily tasks for welding team in accordance with the overall production plan.Monitor and provide feedback on welding quality at first levelConduct toolbox talks as required, and actively promoting Health and Safety working practices.Record man hours and update weekly timesheets.Effectively communicate technical information to welding team.Ensure accurate guidance on welding procedures is providedSupport all departments with labour requestsCarry out first level inspection of fabrication quality with white chalk mark-up and submit inspection call noticesProvide / Deliver team training in automationComplete and allocate work permitsConduct fit up checks in accordance with IACS.Communicate with sub-contractors and provide labour as required.Advise Welding manager of any HR concerns within welding team.Monitor equipment for appropriate usage and temperatureWork in adherence to weld proceduresPresenting completed works to inspectorsComply with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, other staff, and visitors.Pass on and share knowledge and skills with Ferguson Marine apprentices.Person SpecificationEffective leadership, communication, team-building skills, and proven ability in people environment including a diverse workforceComputer literate in Word, Excel & Power PointCommunication skillsTeamworkApplying Professional standardsService DeliveryPlanning and OrganizingContinuous improvement mindsetRequired Knowledge, Qualifications & ExperienceMust be a highly qualified skilled tradesman relevant to welding activities with at least 2 years supervisory experience.Proven experience in workshop supervision environment and trade papersDemonstrable leadership and management experienceExcellent communication, collaboration and influencing skillsThis is an ongoing contract Advantage Resourcing is a service driven recruitment consultancy.
