Job Description

A leading engineering manufacturing business are currently recruiting for a Senior Buyer / Category Buyer - Indirects to join on a permanent basis at their Port Glasgow site.The Senior Buyer / Category Buyer will be responsible for all categories of indirect expenditure within the business with full end-to-end ownership bringing efficiency and best value to the business. Creating effective sourcing strategies to meet stakeholder requirements and to implement the strategy as well as project management.Example of indirect category include and not limited to - capital expenditure, IT, telecoms, facilities management, ppe, consumables, utilities, professional services, subcontractors and wider general services.Role - Senior Buyer / Category Buyer - IndirectsSalary - Up to £48,000 (DOE) + BenefitsType - PermanentLocation - Port Glasgow, ScotlandKey responsibilities for Senior Buyer / Category Buyer - Indirects and will not limited to:

  • Collate and map out all areas of Indirect expenditure, grouping by category.
  • Be visible in business and build a network with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop a schedule for the development of sourcing strategies across key areas of expenditure
  • Actual development of sourcing strategies by category that best fit business needs and provide associated savings / value add
  • Project management of related sourcing initiatives / tenders through to delivery
  • Creation of a savings plan for Indirect that links with the sourcing initiatives
  • Monthly reporting of forecast and actual results related to the sourcing initiatives / savings plan
  • Manage all commercial negotiations with key suppliers across the Indirect categories, ensuring contractual agreements are agreed and in place with Preferred Suppliers
  • Creation of a Preferred Supplier matrix by category, promoting to key internal stakeholders
  • Be the subject matter expert related to indirect procurement
    • Key skills and experience required for Senior Buyer / Category Buyer - Indirects job applicant:
  • Proven/demonstrable experience within a Procurement role
  • Indirect experience is preferred and not essential
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in MS Excel and MS Office
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
