Job Description

Are you passionate about helping people live independently and comfortably in their own homes Do you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills If so, you might be the perfect candidate for the Independent Living Officer role in our client’sfriendly community in Gwyn James Court, Penarth. There will also be some requirements for you to work from and/or attend in person meetings in our main office in Cardiff.You will provide housing management services to tenants, coordinate activities, promote tenant wellbeing, and report maintenance repairs where required ensuring a high-quality service and a supportive environment.Salary: £23,965 to £25,226 (pro-rata).Hours of Work: 35 hours per weekContract Type: Fixed term contract, 13 monthsIndependent Living OfficerRequirements:

  • General education to GCSE standard or an equivalent Independent Living Housing qualification or NVQ level 2 in Housing or a related subject
  • Relevant and proven experience of working with older people or in a supporting people or housing, housing advice environment
  • Good IT skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Strong understanding of the needs of older people and ageing process and a detailed knowledge of support services available to older persons
  • Some awareness of the Health & Safety implications of managing a scheme
Desirable Requirements
  • Level 3 certificate in Housing/Sheltered Housing/Supported Housing
  • Experience of the Supporting Person Regime including completing and monitoring support plans
  • Experience of tenant engagement and activity planning
  • Some understanding of the work of housing associations and the concept of Independent Living schemes for older people
  • First Aid qualified
  • Food Hygiene qualified
  • A valid full driving licence and have the use of a car each working day
