Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and clinically skilled senior nurse with a strong background in lung cancers to join our team of Lung Specialist Nurses at Pembury Hospital for 22.5 hours per week. You will provide expert clinical and supportive care for patients diagnosed with lung cancer. You will work with the multi-disciplinary teams and the wider teams in supporting patients throughout their treatment pathway, providing individualized, compassionate and informed patient care.You should possess excellent clinical and communication skills, with an established background in cancer or respiratory nursing, be visible and accessible with quality and standards as your priority. You will need to be flexible and resilient in order to cope with the demands of the role.This post will require you to work essentially core working hours to ensure the service is covered Monday-Friday 9-5 with a degree of flexibility to meet service needs.The post will be based at Tunbridge Wells Hospital but may occasionally involve some travel to the Maidstone site for training/meetings.You will be expected to attend the Trust’s Induction Programme for RNs, RMs and ODPs (which starts on the first day of employment). The programme is full-time (please contact the programme lead if this is problematic: ), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area and classroom-based study days which run from 9am to 5pm.The Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS trust currently care for approximately 500,000 people in the Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells area. The Trust operates from two primary sites; our new state of the art Tunbridge Wells Hospital, the first all single room NHS hospital in England, and Maidstone Hospital.Ideally situated between the Kent coastline and the capital, the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells area is a great place to live and work, combining the excitement of the town with the beautiful rural environment of the Kent countryside.Maidstone Hospital is also home to the Kent Oncology Centre, one of the leading cancer treatment centres in the southeast. The cancer centre treats over 7,000 new patients a year from Kent and East Sussex, and was among the first nationally to benefit from a £4.7 million new treatment system that targets and treats tumours with pinpoint accuracy.
